The ICC is glad to announce that funding for the following awards is available:

Red dot Marcel Pourbaix Award

  The Marcel Pourbaix Award for Promotion of International Cooperation recognizes outstanding contributions of corrosion scientists and engineers to international cooperation, to the exclusion of personal or commercial interests. The award winner will receive a certificate to be presented on the occasion of the International Corrosion Congress. No restrictions as to membership in ICC or in other societies apply in order to qualify for the Marcel Pourbaix Award.

  Red dot Young Researcher Travel Award

  The ICC offers a travel award to a young researcher under 35 years of age to present a paper at the International Corrosion Congress. The award consists of a maximum of 1000 Euro. The award winner will be selected based on the interest of the proposed contribution and the financial needs of the applicants. Preference will generally be given to candidates from developing countries.

  Red dot Some support for a session on « Current and future corrosion problems worldwide » at the 17th ICC congress :

  ICC will assist a limited numbers of authors from countries with a difficult economy to contribute to a special session on
« Global approach to current and future corrosion problems worldwide ».
The papers should address one or several of the following topics :
  • local specific technical problems
  • local investigation capacities
  • local resources available
  • local specific solutions
  • specific management of the problems
  • impacts on the local economy
  • on safety and on the local society
  • needs and experience
Attention : deadline for submitting abstracts (presently : end of January 2008) and other requirements from the organising committee apply.
The contribution from ICC may amount to between 1000 and 1500 euro, depending on country, distance etc. The decision of ICC to contribute will be communicated to applicants at the latest one month afeter the expiration of the deadline for submitting abstracts.
Application with an abstract, a resume about the authors and a recommendation from a local corrosion organisation (or similar) should be addressed to the ICC chairman at apourbai@ulb.ac.be. The funds will be given to the selected applicants in person in Las Vegas, at the end of the session.
